No sorry, all our campers are manual.
can vans be taken to EU
The only EU country we allow the campers to travel to is Southern Ireland. There are additional insurance costs.
Do you have to hook up to gas, electric or water when you park? Where do you park in scotland?
There is a gas bottle provided in the camper. There is also a water tank which can be filled up with a hose if required. You have the option of "freedom camping" with no hook up to electricity (240 Volt) or when you are in a campsite you can hook up to the power there.
Do you hire to over 70 year olds?
Yes, the maximum age to hire is 75 years old. This is dictated by our insurance company.
What is the size of the van, how long and wide
The 2 and 4 berth VW T5 campers are 4.7 metres long, 2.5 meters high and 2 meters wide.
What does the customer need to bring with them on the day of hire?
Caledonian Campers requires each drivers full driving licence (both parts if it is the newer style), a recent letter or utility bill to show address, some photo ID and a method of payment to pay the fully refundable security deposit.
What are the seatbelt fittings in the rear of the vans please?
There are 3 point seat belts in the rear of the campers
What is the difference between the VW T5 2 and 4 berth as they look exactly the same in the photos?
They are exactly the same make and model of vehicle. The only difference being that the 2 berth has more storage as there is no bed upstairs.
Can i bring my dog?

Do you pick up from Edinburgh airport?
We can collect from Edinburgh Airport for a fee of £70. There are frequent trains and buses from Edinburgh to Glasgow.
What does Caledonian Campers provide with the camper van?
Each camper van comes with 2 chairs, table for outside use, cooking utensils, crockery, gas bottle, pack of cards, first aid kit, the 4 berth T5 VW campers come with bike racks. Additional linen can be hired at a cost of £20 per person per week, sat nav for £30 per week, an awning for £30 per week or an awning heater for £15 per week.
How many people do the camper vans sleep?
The 2 Berth economy option sleeps two people in the rock and roll bed. The VW T5 4 berth sleeps 4 people. Two downstairs on the rock and roll bed and 2 upstairs. The motorhome sleeps between 4 and 6 people.
What are the times of collection and drop off?
During the busy summer period (May – September) this will normally be between 12.00pm and 1.00pm on Friday. Outside the busier summer months we can usually be more flexible, and we can agree a suitable time with You for You to collect the camper van provided that this does not conflict with the timing of other bookings Caledonian Campers has.
Can we leave our car with Caledonian Campers?
We would encourage you to arrive by train as the Yoker train station is a two minute walk from the office. However if you choose to drive you are welcome to leave the car outside the office but do so entirely at your own risk. Caledonian Campers will not be liable for any damages or losses.
Where is Caledonian Campers located?
Caledonian Campers Ltd is based at 8 Hamilton Street,Clydebank, G81 1LY. We are just off the A82, 12 miles from the centre of Glasgow and 15 miles from Glasgow International airport. Caledonian Campers are only 62 miles from Edinburgh airport and 48 miles from Glasgow Prestwick airport
Do Caledonian Campers allow pets?
Yes. As long as the camper is returned in a clean and undamaged. All customers may be liable for the £30 cleaning charge if returned in an unsatisfactory condition.

What day of the week does a weekly hire start from and finish and, could it be from Friday to Friday in July?
Friday to friday is ideal for us however we do aim to be as flexible as possible to suit our customers requirements.
How much is the security deposit?
The security deposit is £750. This is so Caledonian Campers can ensure the vehicle is returned safely. It also enables Caledonian Campers to cover any costs from damage, very late returns, excess mileage or to go towards any costs following an accident. This can be taken by card or cash and will be returned to you by Caledonian Campers as long as none of the above apply.
How do we book with Caledonian Campers?
In order to book a camper van with Caledonian Campers you must complete a booking form or telephone us on 0141 952 5399/07877564822 to give us the required details.Your deposit is due to be paid to Caledonian Campers no later than 6 weeks prior to the commencement of the hire period. The balance of the hire price must be paid a minimum of 6 weeks before the start of the hire period. If the start of the hire period is less than 6 weeks from the date of the booking confirmation, the whole of the hire price is payable
How do we pay Caledonian Campers?
Methods of payment include debit card or credit card(subject to a 3% fee). Pay Pal (4% fee), Cheque payable to Caledonian campers Ltd(ensuring adequate time for it to clear), Cash can only be taken for the security deposit, not for payment of the hire. Bank transfer is available for our international customers.
Is there any option to buy a CDW (collision damage waiver) policy on the £750 excess?
Yes, you can reduce the £750 to £250 by paying an additional £5 per day. Note that we still take the £500 fully refundable security deposit (£750 for the motorhome) on the day of hire but obviously return this to you when you bring the camper.
Are we insured when we drive one of Caledonian Campers campervans?
The hire charge includes fully comprehensive insurance for one named driver aged between 25-70 years old and who has what our insurance company considers a "normal occupation" with no convictions or endorsements. If the driver has convictions or has an occupation deemed high risk them there may be additional charges which we will make you aware of. Additional drivers can be added at a cost of £7 per day. We reserve the right to refuse hire to anyone who is refused insurance by our insurance. Our insurance excess is £750 on the hire policy, customers will be liable up to this in the event of a claim.
Does the insurance cover our personal belongings?
No. Caledonian campers recommends that travel insurance is taken out to cover personal belongings.
Do I have to maintain the camper van when I have it out on hire?
Caledonian Campers will hire out the camper van in a roadworthy condition with all the appropriate checks having been carried our prior to the commencement of the hire. We ask you to carry out routine checks as you would do for your own car such as the oil level and tyre pressure.
Does the camper come with a full tank of petrol?
Yes the camper comes with a full tank of petrol and should be returned full at the end of the hire. Caledonian Campers do charge customers for camper vans which do not return with full tanks. See terms and conditions.
What happens if we breakdown?
In the unlikely event of a breakdown each camper van comes with a AA roadside and relay card. This is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We also provide you with a contact phone number for us.
